Text on poster:
"The Daily News strike brought the people of New York City together", says noted artist Ralph Fasanella. "It was a strike for all workers. I felt the whole country was behind the strikers." The Tribune Co. promoted the Daily News as New York's "hometown newspaper," but was more than willing to spend millions to bust its unions. The company didn't realize the emotional attachment New Yorkers have for their "hometown unions". When management declared all out war on Daily News workers in 1990, the united response from the city's labor movement inspired one of the greatest laborvictories in decades. The Tribune underestimated the spirit and strength of New York's working people. New York is still a union town.
