Collection: Cezanne
Fondation Beyeler
January 25 – May 25 2026
For the first time in its history, the Fondation Beyeler is dedicating a solo exhibition to Paul Cezanne (1839–1906) – a pioneer of modern art and a key artist in its collection. With around 80 works, the exhibition focuses on the last and most important phase in the French painter's oeuvre and shows Cezanne in top form: on display are mysterious portraits, paradisiacal bathers, landscapes of longing from Provence and his favourite mountain, the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, which the artist depicted in ever new views. In his studio in the south of France, Cezanne brought light, colour and form into a powerful tension with a masterful flair. He created revolutionary images that continue to inspire generations of artists to this day. The exhibition illustrates how Cezanne changed painting and how he became, as Pablo Picasso said, the "father of us all".
